To start, I donate money at least 2 times a month to different causes. Mostly military family stuff.

I was looking at my CC statement, and I find $40 that I apparenlty donated on 22DEC. The funny thing, I wasn't in the state on that day so it wasn't me. Am I a complete asshat for wanting to call them and dispute the charge? I kinda feel bad about asking for the money back, but then again it wasn't me that did it.

I would absolutely call. It's likely if you don't call and file a dispute claim, it will happen again. It's important to get a new account opened/card issued asap.

A thought occurred to me; you're certain that this charity isn't one of your usuals? Is it possible the charity didn't process your donation until several days after you made it?

or they set it up as a recurring charge?
Yeah, I don't know about Magic Rainbow Unicorn Land, but here in Reality, Rhyolith is the worst encounter Blizzard has ever designed.

It's for opportunity village, looks like a good cause and all but I'd rather put it elsewhere. I only donate with cash, so recurring / late process isn't a chance.

Bank said it was physically swipped, so I'm waiting for a receipt with a signature on it...

Hmm. You still have the card in your possession? I swipe my hubby's cards now and then, could your wife have given the donation?

Or, there's someone in the Vegas area who uses the same bank/CC company as you do, who has the same name as you do? And they charged you by mistake?

Believe it or not, this happened to my Grandma years ago. :-P

I'm thinking that maybe someone swiped their card, and then they manually entered the number wrong or something. My wife would tell me that it was her when I ask her about it...

It's a Chase CC, so the first is possible.
